Purple themed album

28 Jan

This traditional casebound wedding album was custom-made to match the vibrant purple bridesmaid dresses that were worn at this couple’s wedding. The coverpaper is a Nepalese handmade paper that has a distinctive textured surface.

In order to make this wedding album extra special, I handstitched matching headbands at the top and bottom of the album’s spine. These headbands will serve to protect the album whilst adding an extra hint of colour. I also added a secret message to the spine – hidden away forever!

The slipcase acts as a protector for the album, keeping the wedding photos protected inside the album, away from light and other possible damage. As always this wedding album is made from archival materials which are completely acid-free.

Slate pink wedding set

11 Sep

Here is a wedding set that I made recently. It consists of a medium accordion album, an extra large Japanese bound album and a Secret Belgian bound guest book. The colour theme of the wedding was pink and slate grey so I thought that this modern polka-dotted paper contrasted with the grey bookcloth would suit.

I also found a polka-dotted grey ribbon that I couldn’t resist using on one of the albums – making a very polka-polka dotted album!

Complete wedding album

22 Jun

This wedding album was given as a birthday present. The couple had never gotten around to printing their wedding photos so the bride asked me to bind, print and complete their wedding album as a gift for her husband. There was a lot of discussion about the cover paper: she wanted a blue and gold cover, but knew that he would prefer a simpler black and white one! Eventually we found a compromise – a black and white cover with a bright blue ribbon.

After finishing the binding, I then started sorting through all the photos, selecting and resizing the best photos. By the end of the album, I felt like I had been at the wedding!
